Viktor and Rolf make me weep.

i keep watching the new V&R S/S collection over and over again, i just want to get inside they're minds and take some of their genius for myself...

and to take a shirt and blow it up to gigantic proportion. just amazing, the way they moved as well, captured me from the get go.

p.s. im loving all this white.

in California

I have been listening to Joanna Newsom a lot recently. i think her voice, although different in her new album, is mesmerising, and on her new album,  Have one on me, one song gets me every time. In California is so beautiful, and they lyrics are wonderful. Quite emotional in a way, and the way she sings them is just soooo endearing.

I dont belong to anyone,
my heart is heavy as an oil drum,
and i don't want to be alone,
my heart is yellow as an ear of corn.

some nights i never go to sleep at all,
and i stand,
shaking in the doorway like a sentinel, all alone
bracing like the bow upon a ship,
and fully abandoning
any thought of anywhere but home,
my home
sometimes i can almost feel the power,
and i do love you
is it only timing that has made it such a dark hour
only ever chiming out cuck-hoo, hoo-oo, hoo-oo.

Always makes me smile.

i was afraid i'd wake you.... what now?

Another film i love, Anytime soon, on Nowness.com, set in Hong Kong and the love of this woman this man has, its very sweet and the music is easy listening. makes the mood more intense, the simple, yet provocative script is also mesmerising.

Citing Fellini and Yves Saint Laurent as major inspirations, this film has a touch of the perfume add, which the film maker Jean-Claude Thibaut creates this atmospheric, slightly mysterious film...

Plus the dress she is wearing is HERMES.. even better!

screencaps Nowness.com:

Gorgeous.

Franco fever.

Nowness.com is one of my guilty pleasures right now, i think its the best place on the web to find new exclusive news in culture, specially new Films by some of the most innovative film makers.

and this one, by Alison Chernick is one i love, the simplicity is something im allured to. Actor turned artist James franco stars. simply applying face makeup, which makes his facial look quite ghostly. i think he is rather attractive so this was a pleasure to watch as well. but overall i love the simplicity of it. just him, applying facial make up...

I really like the background too... like the few buildings in the background. wether its a window or a screen, its, strange. makes me think of the future we all have. strange.

Captured

just the skeleton it has left behind.

Sitting here...

with bibiandtheantlers.blogspot.com

goodnight...

Pina Bausch...

is just my love.

recently.

Recently had a Crit at uni, well today in-fact, went really rather will to be honest, more so that i hoped as the tutorials were rather... good but not that informative, with final collection ect, i wasn't sure of the tutors feelings about my work. but they lapped it up today, i'm overjoyed. and cannot wait to get into the tailoring projects now!.

The whole idea was mixing the very traditional mexican aesthetic with the Belle Epoque.  as i found a fantastic little book called 'La Casa De Cita' which had all these amazing photographs from that period of mexican woman who i assume are prostitutes and work in brothels. they were wearing very little, a sheer dress which showed the body was the most they were covered. most were completely naked. i found this very sensual. romantic in a way and i wanted to mix the two to show my aesthetic into design.
